Centrifuged latex, Creamed Latex

Alleppey Latex (P) Ltd produces a wide range of rubber based products. The following are the major products.

  • Centrifuged latex (60% DRC)
The company produces Centrifuged Latex. It is mainly used for producing mattress, condoms, gloves and all type of rubber products. The machinery used for centrifuged latex is Alfa level centrifuges manufactured in Sweden.

  • Creamed latex (50 to 55% DRC)
The Company produces creamed latex, which is mainly used by companies manufacturing mattress, rubberized coir, balloon and adhesives.
Quality control and R& D
The company has a well-equipped laboratory with complete testing facilities to test all the parameters of latex specified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

The parameters tested for are
  • Dry rubber content
  • Total solid content
  • VFA number
  • Mechanical Stability
  • Alkalinity
  • KOH number
  • Sludge content
  • Coagulum content
  • Copper content
  • Manure content
  • Viscosity & Magnesium content

Technically Specified Rubber (T.S.R.)

Technically Specified Rubber (T.S.R.) is used for making tyres, tubes, rubber mats and various other rubber products

It was in the late 1960's that the rubber industry started to produce rubber with exactly known properties. Prior to this, rubber was produced in three forms - ECB, PLC & SHEET. However the actual properties and grade of these were determined visually and was susceptible to human error. It was felt that a new and standardised method was required to scientifically establish properties of various grades of latex and to ensure proper grading. Thus Technically Specified Rubber (TSR) grading was established.

Presently, TSR grading helps the industry in manufacturing rubber that meets exact standards.

In India the specification contains 7 grades.

The first three are called latex grades: They use coagulated field latex as the chief raw material, the remaining four use cuplump as raw material. Of these the biggest market in India is for ISNR-20 grade which is used by most tyre manufacturers.

Quality control and R& D
Stringent testing as per norms is carried out to ensure that production meets various parameters. We have a well-equipped lab to undertake testing. From a lot, samples are cut from two opposing corners of every tenth bale. The two are then bulked and tested for various parameters.

The parameters tested for are
  • Dirt Content
  • ASN Content
  • Nitrogen Content
  • Volatile Matter Content
  • Initial Plasticity (P0)
  • Plasticity Retention Index (PRI)
  • Colour or Louibond Scale (in case of ISNR 3L)
  • Mooney Viscosity (in case of ISNR 3CV)
